Žaklīna

Žaklīna is the Latvian form of Jacqueline, which is the feminine diminutive of Jacques, the French form of James. James ultimately derives from the Late Latin name Iacomus, which was a variant of Iacobus, itself from the Greek Iakobos, and finally from the Hebrew name Ya'akov (Jacob). The meaning 'supplanter' comes from the biblical story of Jacob, who was born grasping his twin brother Esau's heel, thus 'supplanting' him.

The name Jacqueline gained significant popularity in France during the Middle Ages and spread to other European countries. Its Latvian form, Žaklīna, reflects the phonetic and orthographic conventions of the Latvian language, particularly the use of the caron (ˇ) over 'Z' and 'L' to indicate palatalization or a different pronunciation.
