Zulqarnain

Zulqarnain is an epithet mentioned in the Quran, specifically in Surah Al-Kahf (Chapter 18). The identity of Zulqarnain has been a subject of scholarly debate for centuries, with various theories suggesting he could be Alexander the Great, Cyrus the Great, or a pre-Islamic Yemeni king. The Quranic narrative describes him as a righteous ruler who traveled to the ends of the earth, built a wall to contain Gog and Magog, and was granted great power by God.

The name's literal meaning, 'He of the Two Horns,' is often interpreted metaphorically. Some scholars believe 'horns' refer to the two sides of his empire (east and west), symbolizing his vast dominion. Others suggest it refers to two epochs or generations he lived through, or even a crown with two horns. Regardless of the exact historical figure, Zulqarnain is revered in Islamic tradition as a just and powerful leader.
