Zinta

Zinta is a relatively modern Latvian name, believed to have been coined in the early 20th century. It is thought to be derived from the Latvian word 'zintniece' which means 'wise woman' or 'sorceress', or from 'zint' meaning 'to know'. The name gained popularity in Latvia, particularly during the period of national awakening and independence, as Latvians sought to create and popularize names rooted in their own language and culture, distinct from German or Russian influences.
