Xicoténcatl is a name of Nahuatl origin, the language spoken by the Mexica (Aztec) people of Mesoamerica. It is a compound name derived from 'xicotli' (bumblebee) and 'tentli' (lip or edge), often interpreted poetically as 'lip of the bumblebee' or 'at the edge of the bumblebee'.
