Wistan

Wistan is an Old English name derived from the elements 'wig' meaning 'battle' or 'war', and 'stan' meaning 'stone'. It was a relatively uncommon name even in Anglo-Saxon times, but it gained some historical significance due to Saint Wistan (or Wigstan), a Mercian prince and martyr. His story helped preserve the name, though it never achieved widespread popularity.
