Vishnou

Vishnu is one of the most important deities in Hinduism, revered as the Preserver god in the Trimurti (the Hindu trinity that includes Brahma the creator and Shiva the destroyer). His role is to protect the universe and maintain cosmic order (dharma). He is often depicted with blue skin, holding a conch, discus, mace, and lotus flower, and riding on his vehicle, the eagle Garuda. Vishnu is believed to incarnate on Earth in various forms (avatars) to restore balance and fight evil, with the most famous avatars being Rama and Krishna.

The name 'Vishnou' is a French transliteration of the Sanskrit 'Vishnu'. The deity's worship dates back to ancient Vedic times, with his prominence growing significantly in the Puranic era. Vaishnavism, one of the major traditions within Hinduism, focuses on the worship of Vishnu as the supreme being.
