Vanessza

The name Vanessza is the Hungarian form of Vanessa. The name Vanessa was invented by the Anglo-Irish writer Jonathan Swift in 1726 for his poem 'Cadenus and Vanessa'. He created it by taking the first syllable of 'Vanhomrigh', the surname of Esther Vanhomrigh, a woman with whom he had a close relationship, and adding 'Essa', a diminutive of Esther's first name. While Swift invented the name, it gained popularity and was later associated with the Greek word 'Phanessa', a mystic deity, and eventually with the genus of butterflies, leading to its common association with the insect.

In Hungary, Vanessza became a recognized and used name, particularly from the late 20th century onwards. Its literary origin gives it a unique charm, and its association with the butterfly adds a delicate and beautiful imagery to the name.
