Valquíria

Valquíria is the Portuguese and Spanish form of the Old Norse name Valkyrie. The Valkyries were powerful female figures in Norse mythology who served the god Odin. They rode on winged horses over battlefields, choosing which warriors would die and which would live, and then guiding the chosen fallen to Valhalla, Odin's hall. The name itself is derived from the Old Norse elements 'valr' (the slain) and 'kyrja' (chooser).
