Uściwoj

Uściwoj is a rare and ancient Slavic name, composed of two elements: *ustъ- meaning 'honest, just, true' and *vojь meaning 'warrior, soldier'. Names formed with the element *vojь were common in early Slavic societies, reflecting the importance of martial prowess. The name would have been given with the hope that the child would grow to be a person of integrity and strength, both in character and in battle.

While names like Uściwoj were prevalent in the early medieval period among various Slavic tribes, their usage declined significantly over centuries, particularly with the Christianization of Slavic lands and the adoption of biblical or saintly names. Today, Uściwoj is almost exclusively found in historical records or as a very rare, deliberate revival name, primarily in Poland.
