Tyfanie is a variant of Tiffany, which is derived from the Greek name Theophania (Θεοφανία). The name literally means 'manifestation of God' from the Greek elements 'theos' (God) and 'phainesthai' (to appear, to show). Historically, the name was often given to girls born on the Epiphany, a Christian feast day celebrating the revelation of God in human form in the person of Jesus Christ. This holiday falls on January 6th.

The name gained popularity in the Middle Ages, particularly in England, but then declined in use. It saw a resurgence in the 20th century, especially in the 1960s and 1970s, partly due to the popularity of the film 'Breakfast at Tiffany's' (though the film's title refers to the jewelry store, not a character named Tiffany).
