Toinette

Toinette is a French diminutive of Antoinette, which itself is the feminine form of Antoine. Antoine is the French equivalent of Anthony, a name of ancient Roman origin. The root of Anthony is believed to be the Roman family name Antonius, which has an uncertain etymology but is often associated with the Greek word 'anthos' meaning 'flower' or the Latin 'ante' meaning 'before, in front of'. However, the most widely accepted meaning for Antonius is 'priceless' or 'highly praiseworthy'.
