Tarcisa

Tarcisa is the feminine form of the Roman cognomen Tarcisius, which means 'from Tarsus'. Tarsus was an important ancient city in Cilicia, Asia Minor, known for being the birthplace of Saint Paul. The name gained some usage due to the veneration of Saint Tarcisius, a young martyr of the early Christian church.

While the male form Tarcisius has a longer history, the feminine Tarcisa is less common and primarily found in Romance language-speaking regions, particularly Italy and Portugal, where it is sometimes used in honor of the male saint.
