Syamyon

Syamyon is a Belarusian variant of the Hebrew name Shimon (Simon). The name Shimon itself is derived from the Hebrew verb 'shama' (שָׁמַע), meaning 'to hear' or 'to listen'. In the Old Testament, Simeon was the second son of Jacob and Leah, and one of the twelve patriarchs of the tribes of Israel. The name gained widespread popularity through its Greek form, Simon, particularly due to Simon Peter, one of the most prominent apostles of Jesus in the New Testament.

Over centuries, as Christianity spread, the name Simon, and its various forms, became common across Europe. In Eastern Slavic cultures, particularly in Belarus, the form Syamyon emerged. It retains the original Hebrew meaning and is a traditional name within these regions, often associated with religious figures and historical leaders.
