Sintija is the Latvian form of Cynthia. The name Cynthia originates from Greek mythology, derived from the Greek word 'Kynthia' (Κυνθία), which means 'from Mount Cynthus'. Mount Cynthus is a mountain on the island of Delos, the birthplace of the twin gods Apollo and Artemis. Artemis, the goddess of the hunt, wilderness, wild animals, the Moon, and chastity, was often referred to as Cynthia, particularly in poetry, due to her birth on this mountain.
