Seaxburg is an ancient Anglo-Saxon name, combining the Old English elements 'seax' (meaning 'knife' or 'short sword') and 'burg' (meaning 'fortress' or 'protected place'). Names incorporating 'seax' were common among early Germanic peoples, often denoting a warrior or noble status. The 'burg' element was also very popular, frequently used in names for both men and women to signify protection or a fortified settlement.

The name was borne by at least one prominent Anglo-Saxon queen, Saint Seaxburh of Kent, who was a significant figure in early English Christianity. After her husband's death, she became a nun and later an abbess, founding a monastery and playing a key role in the religious life of her time.
