Scholastyka is the Polish form of the Late Latin name Scholastica, which itself is derived from the Greek word 'scholastikos' (σχολαστικός). This Greek term means 'belonging to a school' or 'learned.' The name gained prominence through Saint Scholastica, the twin sister of Saint Benedict of Nursia, who lived in the 5th and 6th centuries. She is considered the patron saint of nuns, education, and convulsive children.

The name has been historically used in Catholic countries, particularly in Poland, due to the veneration of Saint Scholastica.
