Sabinian

Sabinian is a Roman cognomen (a family name or nickname) derived from the more common Roman name Sabinus. The name Sabinus itself referred to someone from the ancient Sabine tribe, an Italic people who lived in the Apennine Mountains east of Rome. The Sabines were a significant group in early Roman history, known for their conflict and eventual integration with the Romans, famously depicted in the legend of the 'Rape of the Sabine Women'.
