Rozafa

Rozafa is a name deeply rooted in Albanian folklore and history, specifically from the legend of Rozafa Castle in Shkodër, Albania. The legend tells of three brothers who were building a castle wall, but every night the wall they built during the day would collapse. An old sage advised them that to make the wall stand, one of their wives had to be sacrificed and immured within the walls. The brothers agreed that the first wife to bring them lunch the next day would be the one. Rozafa, the youngest brother's wife, was chosen. She agreed to be sacrificed on the condition that her right breast, right hand, right foot, and left eye be left exposed so she could still nurse her infant son, caress him, rock him, and see him. This act of sacrifice ensured the castle's completion and became a powerful symbol of strength, endurance, and maternal love in Albanian culture.

The name Rozafa, therefore, is not merely a given name but carries the weight of this ancient tale. It embodies the spirit of self-sacrifice for a greater cause and the enduring strength of a woman.
