Quirinus

Quirinus is an ancient Roman name with a complex etymology. One prominent theory links it to the Sabine town of Cures, suggesting the meaning 'citizen of Cures'. Another theory connects it to the Sabine word 'quiris' meaning 'spear', which would associate it with martial prowess. In Roman mythology, Quirinus was an early god of the Roman state, identified with the deified Romulus, the legendary founder of Rome. He was part of the Archaic Triad alongside Jupiter and Mars, and his cult was particularly associated with the Quirinal Hill in Rome.
