Quiricus

Quiricus is a Latin name derived from Quirinus, an ancient Roman god. Quirinus was an early deity of the Roman state, often associated with the deified Romulus, the legendary founder of Rome. The name Quirinus itself is thought to be related to 'quiris', meaning 'spear', or 'Quirites', the name for the citizens of Rome. Quiricus, therefore, signifies a connection to this ancient Roman heritage and deity.

The name gained some prominence through early Christian martyrs, particularly Saint Quiricus (or Cyricus), a child martyr from Tarsus who, along with his mother Julitta, was martyred during the Diocletianic Persecution in the early 4th century.
