Parvati

Parvati is a prominent Hindu goddess, the wife of Shiva, the destroyer god, and the mother of Ganesha and Kartikeya. Her name literally means 'daughter of the mountain' from the Sanskrit 'parvata' (mountain), referring to her being the daughter of Himavan, the personification of the Himalayas. She is revered as the goddess of fertility, devotion, power, and divine strength.

Her mythology is rich and varied, often depicting her as a gentle and nurturing goddess, but also as a fierce warrior (in her forms like Durga and Kali) who combats evil. She represents the divine feminine energy (Shakti) and is central to Shaivism, one of the major traditions of Hinduism. The name has been in continuous use in India for millennia, deeply embedded in religious and cultural practices.
