Pamelyn

Pamelyn is a literary invention, first appearing in Sir Philip Sidney's influential pastoral romance, "The Countess of Pembroke's Arcadia," published in 1590. Sidney created the name for one of his main characters, the virtuous and beautiful princess Pamelyna (often shortened to Pamela or Pamelyn). The name is believed to be derived from Greek elements, specifically "pan" (all) and "meli" (honey), thus meaning "all honey" or "all sweetness." Its literary origin gave it an immediate association with innocence, beauty, and virtue.

While the longer form Pamela gained significant popularity in later centuries, particularly after Samuel Richardson's 1740 novel "Pamela; or, Virtue Rewarded," the form Pamelyn has remained much rarer. It carries a more distinctive and slightly archaic feel due to its direct link to Sidney's original work. Its usage is often a deliberate choice to evoke a sense of literary heritage and a unique, gentle charm.
