Orphélie

Orphélie is a rare French variant of the name Ophelia, which itself has Greek origins. The name Ophelia was popularized by William Shakespeare, who used it for a character in his tragedy 'Hamlet' (written around 1600). In the play, Ophelia is the daughter of Polonius and a love interest of Hamlet. Her tragic fate, descending into madness and drowning, has contributed to a certain melancholic association with the name.
