Narasimha

Narasimha is a prominent deity in Hinduism, specifically an avatar of Vishnu. The name itself is derived from the Sanskrit words 'nara' (man) and 'simha' (lion), reflecting his half-man, half-lion form. This avatar is celebrated for his role in protecting his devotee Prahlada and slaying the demon Hiranyakashipu, who had gained a boon making him immune to death from man or beast, inside or outside, day or night, on earth or in the sky. Narasimha's unique form circumvented these conditions.

The worship of Narasimha dates back to ancient times, with iconography and textual references appearing in early Hindu scriptures. He is particularly revered for his fierce yet protective nature, symbolizing divine justice and the triumph of good over evil. Temples dedicated to Narasimha are found throughout India, and his stories are central to Vaishnavite traditions.
