Morrigane is a less common variant of Morrigan, a prominent figure in Irish mythology. The name derives from Old Irish 'Mór Ríoghain', which translates to 'Great Queen' or 'Phantom Queen'. She is often depicted as a goddess of war, fate, and death, appearing in the form of a crow or raven. Her role was complex, encompassing prophecy, sovereignty, and battle.

The name's association with a powerful, often fearsome, deity has given it a strong, mystical, and somewhat dark connotation.
