Màbel

Màbel is a Catalan variant of the name Mabel. The name Mabel itself originated as a short form of Amabel, which comes from the Latin word 'amabilis', meaning 'lovable' or 'beautiful'. While Amabel was used in medieval England, it fell out of favor and was revived in the 19th century, largely due to its appearance in Charlotte M. Yonge's novel 'The Daisy Chain' (1856).

The revival of Mabel led to its widespread popularity, particularly in English-speaking countries. The Catalan variant Màbel retains the core meaning and charm of the original, offering a slightly different phonetic and orthographic flavor while remaining recognizable.
