Lân

The name Lân is derived from the Sino-Vietnamese word for 'qilin' (麒麟), a mythical chimerical creature known in East Asian cultures. The qilin is often described as a unicorn-like beast, symbolizing good fortune, prosperity, serenity, and longevity. In Vietnamese culture, the 'lân' is one of the four sacred animals (tứ linh), alongside the dragon, phoenix, and turtle, and is frequently depicted in art and festivals.
