Lucifero / Lucifer

Lucifero is the Italian form of the Latin name Lucifer, which literally means 'light-bringer' (from 'lux' meaning 'light' and 'ferre' meaning 'to carry' or 'to bring'). In classical antiquity, Lucifer was the name given to the morning star (the planet Venus when it appears before sunrise). It was also personified as a mythological figure, often associated with the Greek god Phosphorus, who brought the dawn.

The name's association with evil stems from Christian theology. Due to a misinterpretation of Isaiah 14:12 in the Vulgate Latin translation, where the King of Babylon is metaphorically called 'Lucifer, son of the morning,' the name became synonymous with Satan, the fallen angel. This association cemented Lucifero's negative connotations in Christian cultures, leading to its extreme rarity as a given name.
