Lenin

The name 'Lenin' is a pseudonym adopted by Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov (1870–1924), the leader of the Bolshevik Revolution and the first head of the Soviet Union. The most widely accepted theory for its origin is that it refers to the Lena River in Siberia, where he was exiled in 1897. This choice was possibly made to evoke a sense of connection to the vastness and historical significance of Russia, and perhaps as a counterpoint to Plekhanov, another revolutionary who used the pseudonym 'Volgin' after the Volga River.

While primarily known as a pseudonym, 'Lenin' subsequently became a given name in the Soviet Union and other communist countries, often bestowed upon boys in honor of Vladimir Lenin. Its usage as a personal name peaked during the Soviet era, symbolizing revolutionary ideals and loyalty to the communist cause.
