Koroush

Koroush is the modern Persian form of the ancient Persian name Cyrus. The name's etymology is debated, with several proposed meanings. One prominent theory suggests a connection to the Old Persian word 'khur' or 'khor', meaning 'sun', implying 'like the sun' or 'sun-throned'. Another theory links it to the Elamite word 'kurash', possibly meaning 'shepherd'. The name gained immense historical significance through Cyrus the Great.

Cyrus the Great, also known as Cyrus II of Persia, was the founder of the Achaemenid Empire, a vast empire that stretched from the Aegean Sea to the Indus River. His reign (c. 559–530 BC) is remembered for his military conquests, his benevolent rule, and his respect for the customs and religions of the lands he conquered. He is particularly famous for allowing the Jewish people to return to Jerusalem and rebuild their Temple, as recorded in the Bible.
