Kleofas / Cleopas / Cleophas

Kleofas is a Polish and Lithuanian form of the Greek name Cleopas. Cleopas itself is a shortened form of Cleopatros, meaning 'glory of the father' from Greek 'kleos' (glory) and 'pater' (father). The name has biblical connections through Cleopas, one of the two disciples to whom the resurrected Jesus appeared on the road to Emmaus, as recounted in the Gospel of Luke.

While not widely used in English-speaking countries, Kleofas maintains a presence in Eastern European cultures, particularly in Poland and Lithuania, where it has been adopted and adapted from its Greek roots. Its usage is often tied to religious traditions and the veneration of Saint Cleopas.
