Klarysa is a variant of the name Clarissa, which itself is a diminutive of Clara. Clara comes from the Latin word 'clarus', meaning 'clear, bright, famous'. The name gained popularity in the Middle Ages, particularly through Saint Clare of Assisi, a follower of Saint Francis of Assisi and the founder of the Poor Clares order. The 'y' spelling in Klarysa is a less common, perhaps Slavic-influenced, variation of the traditional Latinate spelling.
