Kintu

Kintu is a central figure in the Buganda creation myth, one of the most prominent ethnic groups in Uganda. According to the legend, Kintu was the first man on Earth, sent by the sky god Ggulu. He is often depicted as a humble and resilient figure who overcame challenges to establish the Buganda kingdom and its lineage. The story of Kintu is foundational to Buganda culture and identity, explaining the origins of humanity, societal structures, and the royal line.

The narrative of Kintu involves his journey from the heavens to Earth, his marriage to Nambi (Ggulu's daughter), and the trials he faced, including the interference of Nambi's jealous brother, Walumbe (Death).
