Jaspar is an anglicized form of the Persian name Gaspar, which itself is derived from the ancient Persian word 'ganzabara', meaning 'treasurer' or 'bringer of treasure'. This name gained significant popularity through its association with one of the Three Wise Men (Magi) who visited the infant Jesus in the biblical narrative. Although not explicitly named in the Bible, tradition established the names Caspar, Melchior, and Balthazar for these figures, with Caspar being the most common variant of Jaspar.
