Inuit

The name "Inuit" is an endonym, meaning it is the name that the people themselves use to refer to their ethnic group. It literally translates to "the people" in the Inuktitut language, which is spoken by the Inuit. Historically, various groups of Indigenous peoples in the Arctic regions of North America and Greenland were often referred to by outsiders as "Eskimo."
