Hanuman

Hanuman is one of the most revered and central figures in Hindu mythology, particularly in the epic Ramayana. He is depicted as a divine vanara (a monkey-like humanoid), a staunch devotee of Lord Rama, and a symbol of strength, perseverance, and devotion. His birth is often attributed to Vayu, the god of wind, and Anjana, a celestial nymph cursed to be born on Earth. The name 'Hanuman' itself is believed to derive from Sanskrit words 'Hanu' (jaw) and 'man' (prominent or disfigured), referring to a childhood incident where he was struck on the jaw by Indra's thunderbolt.

His legends are numerous, including his ability to fly, change size, and possess immense strength. He famously helped Rama rescue his wife Sita from the demon king Ravana, performing incredible feats like leaping across the ocean to Lanka and bringing the Sanjeevani herb to revive Lakshmana. Hanuman is worshipped across India and Southeast Asia, and his tales continue to inspire millions, embodying loyalty, courage, and selfless service.
