Gwion

Gwion is an ancient Welsh name with roots in Brythonic language. It is closely associated with the legendary figure Gwion Bach (Little Gwion) from Welsh mythology, particularly the Mabinogion tale of Taliesin. Gwion Bach was a servant boy who accidentally tasted three drops of a magical brew from Cerridwen's cauldron, gaining immense wisdom and poetic inspiration. To escape Cerridwen's wrath, he transformed into various animals before finally becoming a grain of wheat, which Cerridwen ate, leading to her giving birth to Taliesin, one of the most famous bards in Welsh tradition.

The name's meaning of 'white' or 'fair' often carried connotations of purity, blessedness, or even divine favor in ancient Celtic cultures. While not widely used outside of Wales, it has maintained a consistent, albeit rare, presence within Welsh-speaking communities, valued for its historical and mythological significance.
