Guacimara

Guacimara is a name of Guanche origin, the indigenous people of the Canary Islands. It is deeply rooted in the history and culture of these islands, particularly Tenerife. The name belonged to a significant historical figure, the daughter of Bencomo, the last Guanche Mencey (king) of Taoro, one of the nine kingdoms of Tenerife before the Castilian conquest in the late 15th century. Her story is often associated with the resistance against the Spanish invaders.
