Genevra

Genevra is an Italian form of the Welsh name Gwenhwyfar, which is more commonly known in English as Guinevere. The Welsh elements 'gwen' meaning 'white, fair, blessed' and 'hwyfar' meaning 'smooth, soft, yielding' combine to give the meaning 'white wave' or 'white phantom'. The name also has a separate, though related, etymology through the Italian word for 'juniper tree', ginepro, which became Ginevra. This dual origin adds a layer of richness to the name's history.

While Guinevere is strongly associated with Arthurian legend, Genevra offers a less common, more exotic alternative. It has seen sporadic use in English-speaking countries, particularly in the United States, often chosen for its elegant sound and literary connections.
