Galaktion is a name of ancient Greek origin, derived from the word 'galaktos' (γάλακτος), meaning 'milk'. It was historically associated with the Christian martyr Saint Galaktion, who lived in the 3rd century AD. He was martyred in Emesa (modern-day Homs, Syria) along with his wife Episteme during the persecution of Christians under Emperor Decius. His veneration helped to spread the name, particularly in Eastern Orthodox Christian cultures.
