Galahad

Galahad is a legendary knight of King Arthur's Round Table, first appearing in the 13th-century Vulgate Cycle. He is depicted as the purest and most virtuous of all knights, chosen to achieve the Holy Grail. His character was likely created by Cistercian monks to embody Christian ideals of chastity and spiritual perfection, contrasting with earlier, more worldly Arthurian heroes.

The etymology of Galahad is uncertain. Some theories suggest a Welsh origin, possibly from 'Gwalchaved' meaning 'hawk of summer' or 'Gwalchmai' ('hawk of May'), which is related to the name Gawain.
