Gaea

Gaea, also spelled Gaia, is a name deeply rooted in Greek mythology. She is the primordial goddess of the Earth, considered the ancestral mother of all life. According to Hesiod's 'Theogony,' Gaea emerged from Chaos and gave birth to Uranus (the Sky), Ourea (the Mountains), and Pontus (the Sea) without male assistance. She then mated with Uranus to produce the Titans, Cyclopes, and Hecatoncheires.

The name's association with the Earth goddess gives it a powerful and ancient resonance. In modern times, the concept of 'Gaia' has been adopted in scientific and environmental contexts, particularly with the 'Gaia hypothesis,' which proposes that living organisms and their inorganic surroundings have evolved together as a single living system that greatly affects the Earth's environment.
