Fódhla

Fódhla is one of the traditional poetic names for Ireland, often personified as a goddess. In Irish mythology, Fódhla was one of the three queens of the Tuatha Dé Danann, along with Banba and Ériu, who gave their names to Ireland. Each queen asked the Milesians, the invaders of Ireland, to name the island after her. While Ériu (modern Éire) became the most common name, Fódhla and Banba are still used poetically.
