    History & Etymology

Frixos is a name rooted in Greek mythology. Phrixus (the more common English spelling) was the son of King Athamas of Boeotia and the goddess Nephele. He and his twin sister Helle were to be sacrificed to the gods, but were saved by a golden-fleeced ram sent by their mother. Phrixus rode the ram to Colchis, where he sacrificed it to Zeus and gave its Golden Fleece to King Aeëtes.

The name's etymology is derived from the Ancient Greek word 'phrixos' (φριξός), meaning 'curly' or 'bristly', often referring to hair. While not a widely used name in modern times, its connection to a significant myth gives it a rich historical background.
