Fodhla

Fodhla is an ancient Irish name with deep roots in Gaelic mythology and history. It is one of the three mythical sovereign goddesses of Ireland, alongside Banba and Ériu, who gave their names to the island. According to legend, when the Milesians (the ancestors of the Irish people) arrived in Ireland, each of the three goddesses requested that the island be named after her. Ériu's name ultimately prevailed, becoming Éire (Ireland), but Fodhla and Banba are still used poetically to refer to the country.

The name Fodhla is derived from the Old Irish word 'fodla' or 'fódla', meaning 'land' or 'territory'. It embodies a strong connection to the physical land of Ireland and its ancient heritage.
