Epafrodyt

Epafrodyt is the Polish form of Epaphroditus, a name of Ancient Greek origin. The Greek name Epaphroditos (Ἐπαφρόδιτος) is derived from the word 'epaphroditos' meaning 'charming, lovely, beautiful,' which itself comes from 'epi' (upon) and 'Aphrodite' (the Greek goddess of love and beauty). The name therefore literally means 'favored by Aphrodite' or 'belonging to Aphrodite.'

In early Christian history, Epaphroditus was a prominent figure, mentioned in the New Testament as a companion and messenger of Paul the Apostle. This biblical association helped to spread the name, particularly in Eastern Christian traditions. While not widely used in Western Europe, it found some usage in Eastern European countries, often in its localized forms like Epafrodyt in Poland.
