Damiaan

Damiaan is the Dutch and Afrikaans form of the Greek name Damianus, which is derived from the Greek verb 'damazo' (δαμάζω), meaning 'to tame' or 'to subdue'. The name gained prominence through Saint Damian, a physician who, along with his twin brother Saint Cosmas, was martyred during the Diocletianic Persecution in the early 4th century.
