Dafné / Daphne

Dafné is the modern Greek form of the ancient Greek name Daphne. In Greek mythology, Daphne was a naiad (a type of nymph) who was pursued by the god Apollo. To escape his advances, she pleaded with her father, the river god Peneus, to transform her. She was then turned into a laurel tree. Apollo, heartbroken, declared the laurel tree sacred to him, and it became a symbol of poetry, music, and victory.

The name has been used in various forms throughout history, particularly in regions influenced by Greek culture. Its association with the laurel tree, a symbol of honor and triumph, has contributed to its enduring appeal. While less common than its English counterpart 'Daphne', Dafné retains a distinct charm and connection to its classical roots.
