Clotildis

Clotildis is an ancient Germanic name, a Latinized form of the Old High German name Chlotichildis. It is composed of the elements *hlut- meaning 'famous, renowned' and *hild- meaning 'battle, combat'. The name gained prominence through Saint Clotilde, a Frankish queen who played a crucial role in the conversion of her husband, King Clovis I, to Christianity in the late 5th and early 6th centuries.
