Clodoveo is the Spanish form of the Old Germanic name Chlodovech, which is the root of the more commonly known name Louis. The name is composed of the elements *hlud* meaning "fame" and *wig* meaning "warrior" or "battle." It was the name of several early Frankish kings, most notably Clovis I, who united the Franks and established the Merovingian dynasty.
